Company Background
Hans Liebherr founded his Hans Liebherr Maschinenfabrik (meaning “engineering works”) company in Kirchdorf, Germany, in 1949. There was a strong need for industry in post-war Germany, and rebuilding the company was a priority. Hans Liebherr managed his parents’ construction form in southern Germany and was determined to fabricate new tools and machines to be used in construction work.
The first mobile tower crane, the TK 10, was developed by Liebherr in 1949, becoming the company’s first product. This led to the company expanding into the manufacture of a great variety of different construction machines that were lightweight, powerful and easy to use on cramped worksites. The company was at the forefront of innovation again in 1953, when they built Europe’s first hydraulic excavator, the L300. Soon after, Liebherr expanded into the rest of Europe, Africa and North America with their machinery, becoming a major international supplier.
Types of Material Handling Equipment
